2 Nov- Teens
escape injury in crash. Two teenagers narrowly escaped injury after the car
they were in was struck twice in the intersection of Andorra and Navarre
Parkway. Neither of the other drivers was injured. The teens were checked by
paramedics at the scene and released.
8 Nov – Occupant burned during kitchen fire. The
individual received minor burns to the forearm after trying to extinguish a
blaze in the kitchen. An unattended pan of cooking oil erupted in to flames and
the occupant attempted to carry the flaming pan to the sink. The blazing oil
spilled into the sink and onto the countertop igniting everything in its path.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the home sustained minor damage.
The occupant was transported to a local hospital.
9 Nov – HNFD
completes the hiring process for firefighters. After three rounds of testing and
interviews the HNFD has made its final selection for its new firefighters. The
twelve firefighters will begin work on 1 January 2008.
13 Nov – Unattended pan of grease damages kitchen.
HNFD was called out to Shipton St. for a kitchen fire. The small fire was
snuffed out with a fire extinguisher, but not before it damaged the range hood,
microwave and cabinetry. Florosa and Navarre Beach were also called to the
scene.
16 Nov – Cold temps lead to smoke scare. HNFD was
summoned to a home on Ridge Dr. for a smell of smoke in the home. Firefighters
investigated and attributed the odor to the furnace. No fire or smoke was found
and the heater was operating properly.
18 Nov – T-bone collision sends 1 to hospital. A
pizza delivery driver attempted to cross East Bay Blvd at Robledal Dr when his
car was impacted by a driver headed west on 399. One driver was knocked
unconscious and remained that way until after paramedics and firefighters
arrived at the scene. The “Jaws of Life” had to be used to get him from the
wreckage. He was flown by Lifeflight to Baptist Hospital with undisclosed head
injuries; he was not wearing his seatbelt. The second driver was treated at the
scene for minor injuries and released. FHP is investigating.
19 Nov – Woman dumps car into East River.
Authorities were called to the East River boat ramp to investigate a vehicle in
the river. The county search and rescue and Sheriff’s Dept. dive teams were
called out to check the vehicle for occupants and location. After 5 hours of
searching the car was located and hauled out, no one was inside.
25 Nov – Firefighters extinguish trash can fire. A
large trash can caught fire at Navarre Park near the pavilion Saturday night.
The fire was extinguished and did not damage the structure.
30 Nov - HNFD responded to a total of 163 calls this month.
